The secret

I talked about this at the end of last week and I want to elaborate now.

​​​​​​​When it comes to improving your fitness on the bike there is one thing that’s more important than anything else.


The ones who are always at the front of the pack when you go riding in a group.

​​​​​​​The ones who are consistently hitting top 10’s on Strava.

The ones who seem to be able to ride up every hill.

​​​​​​​The ones who stay slim and lean.

They all do one thing really well.

They stay consistent.

They hit their training sessions in the gym every week. Even when they go on holiday.

They consistently go on their bike in all weathers. Sun. Snow. Wind. Rain. Sleet. They don’t look outside when it’s raining and say to themselves ‘I’ll ride tomorrow’. They register the weather… get a raincoat on and some waterproof gloves and socks…and they go ride their bike!

If there’s one thing that you can do to get results over and above what most other MTBers get it’s this…

Stay consistent.

Day in, day out.

Week in, week out.

Ride after ride after rider after ride.

Don’t slack off.

Don’t let yourself fall off the plan.

Stick at it for the long term.
